Kovarik takes Fontucky round 2

January 29, 2008

Chris Kovarik backs up his 1st round win of the Fontana winter downhill series with another win in round 2 over 4X winner and local seasoned pro Eric Carter. Kovarik said “it had rained all night before the race and in the morning we were greeted with sun and a loamy track. The minute pedal at the bottom didn’t get me as bad this time so i can save the vomit for another time, ha”
Chris’ winter training is going good and racing these winter races is getting him ready for the up coming World Cup series. Chris will pick up his new Chain Reaction Cycles team colour Intense M6 this week so look out for CK on his new bike and gear at round 3 in a few weeks time.

Clay Porter on his latest movie, courtesy of Martin Whiteley at 23 Degrees:

“I’m really excited about the launch of and to finally release the film’s trailer. Since I premiered Between The Tape last April, I’ve been hard at work on the film’s sequel and I’m stoked to finally let people get a glimpse of what’s to come on April 18th.
Between The Tape and its trailer touched the surface of what the sport of downhill racing is, but for the F1RST trailer I wanted to delve deeper into the minds of the athletes. I chose all the interview clips and narration to fit a certain feel; finding out what is going through a rider’s mind when racing downhill.
I’m also excited about the blog on the website where you’ll be able to track the final two shoots of the film as well as the editing stages. Even though the World Cup series ended last September I haven’t put the camera down. I leave for Sam Hill’s house in Australia in a week in a half to wrap up his section, and then leave for South Africa at the end of February to shoot with Greg Minnaar and Steve Peat for their section. It’s going to be a busy next three months for me and you’ll be able to track it all on”
