Mini Review: BMW Vegi Burger

The Brooklyn Machine Works Shorty 8 we are currently testing came equipped with a host of BMW’s in-house components, including the shin-eating Vegi Burger pedals. A slimmed down, machined-out version of their classic Shin Burger, the Vegi Burgers are machined from a single block of aluminum and the “pins” or teeth are machined into the body of the pedal itself, unlike most pedals which use replaceable steel pins. They offer plenty of grip even with non-sticky rubber soles, and are surely one of the most unique pedals on the market. One downside is that when the teeth get bashed on a rock they do tend to bend a little, and unlike steel pins they cannot be replaced. At 643 grams they’re acceptably light, have a great feel underfoot and look the nuts!
